Who Do We Appreciate - Mama's Pearl
"Who Do We Appreciate?"
Read: Matthew 26: 6-13; Mark 14:3-9; Luke 7: 37-38; John 12: 1-8; I Corinthians 13: 1-3.
Cheer leaders say...two, four, six, eight...who do we appreciate?
How do we show that appreciation?
We say, "Thank you."
1. Do we give a compliment?
2. As parents, do we build up our children?
3. As children, do we help our parents?
4. As a husband, do we give our wives little gifts, maybe a note sweetly phrased or a rose?
5. As a wife, do we build up our husband's and speak well of him? Bring him a cup of coffee or his favorite drink, tell him how nice he looks.
6. Give compliments and tell each other daily that we love one another?
Mary, the woman, honored Jesus with all she had, her most valuable possession she gave to him. (John 12: 3-11)
What is your most valuable possession? Are you willing to give it all to Jesus? Will you risk ridicule and rejection to show your appreciation for Him. Do you love Him more than what others may say about you?
Be thankful, be bold, dare to be courageous and pour out your love for a King who was disguised as a man...let the odor of ointment from the broken alabaster box, fill the room, a sweet smelling savor...He was born a man, but returns a King!

Please Be Kind to the Elderly
I'm spending a little time with my sweet mom this week she's such an amazing woman. Strong even when she's weak! I watch her read her bible every morning. I've ...learned so much from her. Talk about a Veteran...she's in the army of the Lord Jesus Christ.
She felt like she could do a little shopping today so I took her to the store. She holds onto the buggy and shuffles along taking a snails pace as we go. I am honored and blessed to be with her. If there was ever a woman of God she is definitely one of His. So as we walked along I ignored a comment that was said behind us. I didn't really think he was talking about us. A man, I'd say in his fifties, said in agony, "This is going to take all day."
Mom decided to cross over to another aisle and I heard, "No, no, no!" I turned around and gave him "the Shaw" look. Yes my family knows "the" look. He gave a little grin but I was not amused...I said, "She has cancer." The lady he was walking with said, "I do too, and I understand. I'm sorry." The man shut his mouth and took off in a flash. I just don't understand people. Sometimes all the love and kindness I need to have for "dumb" people just turns into out and out anger when they do and say stupid things. Please try to be more patient with the elderly. We never know what they are battling. It's hard to watch those we love suffer, knowing there's nothing we can do about it but pray.
Maybe the guy was in a big hurry, but he could have just kept his mouth shut and gone around us... I had to vent.
The really cool thing, though, is that I had to get something to eat so we stopped at the Subway in the store, we prayed over our food. Mom couldn't eat her soup. But I noticed at the table next to us was a girl with her back to us, she was reading a bible. She was sitting there with another lady. Mom and I get up to leave and mom says to them, "That's a good thing you're doing, reading your bible." The girl I'd say was in her early thirties, broke down and began to cry. She had tried to take her life five times...Mom said, "come on Marla let's pray with her." Her name is Christine, and Angela was the case worker with her. My mom as weak as she was took the time to minister to someone she didn't even know. It was a divine moment in the life of a broken, hurting soul. She was encouraged and I know without a doubt, God had us meet her and pray for her right there in the Wal-Mart. She was smiling when we were through. It doesn't take much to spread love. If there's anything I've learned from my mom it's to be instant in season and out. You never know when God is going to use you for His purpose! And what Joy when we see Him move in the lives of others.
Thank you!

Prayer, Problem, Provision...
We cannot Praise if we have sin in our lives~
Because sin blocks us off, from the presence of God~
Like a cloud between the sun and us~
Sin is like the cloud between God's son and us...
So we try to hide as Adam and Eve did...
But...
When we pray and repent...
Then the praise flows!

Come Walk With Me - Mama's Pearl Part 2
Come Walk With Me - Mama's Pearl
Part 2
I Kings 2:4
1. Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die, and he charged Solomon his son saying,
2. I go the way of all the earth, be thou strong therefore an show thyself a man.
3. And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in His ways to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and His judgments and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.
4. That the Lord may continue His word which He spoke concerning me, saying, "If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man or the throne of Israel.
2 Kings 20:3
Hezekiah was sick unto death...
Isaiah went to him and told him...
"Thus saith the Lord, SET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER FOR YOU SHALL DIE AND NOT LIVE."
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed:
"I beseech you, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight...
Hezekiah wept sorely... (I've been there, have you?)
God heard Hezekiah and sent Isaiah back with a word...(Praise God for His word)
"The God of David thy father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go to the house of the Lord...and I will add to your life fifteen years...and I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the Assyrians and I will defend this city for mine own sake. And for my servant David's sake.
God told Isaiah to take a lump of figs and lay it on the boil and Hezekiah recovered.
Psalm 56:13
David prayed:
For you have delivered my soul from death, will you not deliver my feet from falling that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
Psalm 116:9
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
We must walk in truth!
Psalm 26:3
For thy loving kindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
Psalm 86:11
Teach me thy way O Lord, I will walk in thy truth, unite my heart to fear thy name.
2 John
4. I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth...as we have received a commandment from the father...YE ARE OF GOD LITTLE CHILDREN, AND HAVE OVERCOME!
3 John
3. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth...
4. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
Hebrews 5:8-9
Though Jesus was and is the son of God, yet learned He obedience by the things which he suffered and being made perfect, He became the Author of Eternal Salvation to all them who obey Him.
Jesus said, "I do those things that please Him...
Isaiah 53:3
He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as if it were our faces from Him, He was despised and we esteemed Him not.
John 1:11
He came to His own, and His own received Him not.
Jesus asked His disciples, after two years of ministry...
Matthew 16:15
"Who am I?"
He knew who he was...
He asked this question knowing His true identity could not be known by outward observations, BUT ONLY BY HEARING FROM HIS FATHER...WHO HAD SENT HIM.
1. They walked with Him, but at times did not understand.
2. Jesus as a child, I'm sure, heard others call Him names.

Come Walk With Me - Mama's Pearl Part 1
Part 1
“Come Walk With Me”
Luke 5:32. I come not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Come-Is an action word
Verb-Action
Noun-A person place or thing
When my husband (Hoyt) was seriously ill, while in the Veterans hospital, he had just been told he would have to go on kidney dialysis. He had, had, a stroke and heart attack.
I was about to cry, I wanted to heal him, but I felt so helpless.
A nurse came in and said, “Come walk with me. I need to find a wheel chair.” We had to go to the sixth floor. While walking with her, I bumped into another person, ran into a man in a wheel chair…and saw a dead person. There was only one elevator working at that time. It was not an easy walk.
The nurse began to tell me her story. Her father was a Pentecostal preacher. She at one time preached the gospel, but felt she was called to minister to the sick. Church people told her she shouldn’t preach! Her husband had left her. Then she began to say God can work miracles but he works with doctors too, because He is the Great Physician.
She didn’t know I was a minister but she knew I was a Christian, because she saw me pray for my husband.
“Walk with me sayeth the Lord! Come close to me! I desire your fellowship.”

Sing, Sing, Sing - Mama's Pearl #4
Sing...Sing...Sing...
Mama's Pearl #4 (From Pearl Gandy Holman's Journal.)
Someone has said that it is wonderful to have light for the day, but it is even more wonderful to have a song for the night.
For at least 2,500 years of biblical history, from creation to Moses there is no record of singing in the Bible.
There are musical instruments but no singing...
The children of Israel were trapped at the Red sea. There was no human escape, they were cut off. The Egyptians were about to attack and then God with a blast of His nostrils opened the sea, and they passed through on dry ground. So great was their gratitude to God that they could not contain themselves. Moses and the children of Israel broke out into song. (Exodus 15)
It was the song of the soul set free...
The world can make a noise...
But only those who have experienced God's Grace in Salvation can truly Sing A Song.
When you sing and worship the Lord Jesus, it releases supernatural anointing and sets your spirit free!
Exodus 15King James Version (KJV)
15 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.
11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.
16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
18 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.
19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
Mama's Pearl #3 - Profitable Knowledge
Mama’s Pearl #3 - Profitable Knowledge
Psalm 119:27
Make me understand the ways of your precepts, so shall I meditate on your wonderful works.
Line upon line, He’s setting me free, Precept on percept, for all men to see.
The Bible tells us all we need to know so we can do all God wants us to do.
The Bible is unlike any other book. It was given by God’s inspiration and is His revelation to man, on its pages we find everything we need to know to receive salvation and to live for the Lord. Paul declared that it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16.)
Some people devote more time to learning about the Bible than to discovering its message. For instance, two men spent months compiling an impressive array of statistics about scripture.
Fools make a mock of sin. (Proverbs 14:9) But among the righteous is favor.
They counted the numbers of chapters, verses, words and even letters. These facts may be interesting, and many hours of labor may go into gathering them, but how do they build us up spiritually?
What did the psalmist have in mind when he asked God to help him understand the way of His precepts? (Psalm 119:27)
He desired and should strive for an increased knowledge of God and His will.
Let’s not get sidetracked by interesting statistics and unusual facts; instead, let’s prayerfully study the content of the Bible to discover what God is saying to us about Himself and His plan for our lives. That will make our Bible knowledge most profitable.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15King James Version)
Lord Jesus, help us to know you, the author of the book, not just head knowledge, but heart and soul dependence on you, so that your love will flow through us, to those we meet, that they will see you in us and want to know you too. Amen.

Our Plans are to be God's Plans, Our Will is to Die. Mama's Pearl #2
Our Plans are to be God’s Plans
Our Will is to Die.
Mama’s Pearl #2
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:6)
In all our plans, decisions, and activities, we should acknowledge God as Lord, and His will as our supreme desire. Every day we must live in a close trusting relationship with God, always looking to Him for direction “by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.”
When we do this God promises to direct our paths: He will lead us to His goal for our lives, remove all obstacles, and enable us to make the right choices.
Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer, and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (Phil. 4:6)
Paul instructs us not to be anxious or worried; the one essential cure for worry is prayer.
For the following reasons:
1. Through prayer we renew our trust in the Lord’s faithfulness by casting our anxieties and problems upon Him who cares for us.
Jesus said: Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat or what our shall drink, nor yet for your body, what you shall put on is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Matthew 6:25-34)
Casting All your care upon Him for He careth for you.
(I Peter 5:7)
2. The peace of God comes to guard our hearts and minds as a result of our communion with Christ Jesus.
3. God strengthens us to do All things He desires of us.
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. (Is. 26:3)
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body, and be ye, thankful. (Col. 3:15)
4. We receive mercy, grace and help in time of need.
Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

(Heb. 4:16)
We can approach the throne of grace: Knowing that our prayers and petitions are welcomed and desired by our heavenly Father.
It is called the “Throne of Grace” because from it flows, God’s love, help, mercy, forgiveness, spiritual power the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
His spiritual gift, the fruit of the Holy Spirit is that Christ is now our high priest, opening a way to His personal presence whereby we can always seek the help we need.
5. We are assured that All things God allows to happen to us will work out for our good.
Not that I speak in respect of want, for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Phil. 4:11)
The key to contentment is realizing that God has given us in our present circumstances everything we need to remain Victorious in Christ.
But thanks be unto God, which giveth us the Victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Cor. 15:57)
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place. (2 Cor. 2:14)
Mama read and wrote using the King James Version all her life, so there will always be thee’s and thou’s. Her pearls are of the purest and ancient kind.

Faith that Overcomes the World-Mama's Pearl # 1
Mama's Pearl...
I John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
The faith that overcomes the world is a faith that sees eternal realities, experiences the power of God, and loves Christ to such an extent that the sinful pleasures, secular values, ungodly ways, and selfish materialism of the world, not only lose their attraction for us, but also are looked upon with disgust, aversion and grief.
Our ability to live triumphantly above changing circumstances is Christ's power flowing in and through us.
This doesn't come naturally, it must be learned through dependence on Christ Jesus.
Jesus, help us today to put aside our wants, desires and circumstances. Let us see others through your eyes. Help us as we go through this day to be aware of your presence and speak with kindness and love. Help us to lay down our lives and follow your example. Not for vain glory, Oh no, let us crucify our flesh so that your Holy Spirit shines through us revealing your nature. Love without question, pray without ceasing, weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Let our faith grow so that we overcome this world and seek you with our whole heart. Amen.
