Mama's Pearls - Bread of Life Part II

From the journal of Pearl Jeannette Holman

Mama's Pearls - Bread of Life Part II

On the Lord's day we have the ordinances of: Preaching, United Prayer and Praise. It keeps us occupied.

But we need to search our hearts and ask if our hearts are in all this or if we are only going through the motions?

We are close to God when we are in solitude...How do you feel toward God when you are alone with Him?

Do we do all the talking?

Are we filled with pride and think we're doing Him a favor by praying?

Are we listening to the Holy Spirit?

We need to let our hearts be the temple in whom Holy silence, and His voice is heard.

We are to rest in God...Then God will say to our heart, This is my rest, here I will dwell.

I John 2:28  And now little children, abide in Him, that, when He shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

If we will prayerfully consider taking a journey through God's Word as revealed in Psalm 119, we will find a purposeful path.

As we learn to develop spiritual disciplines of: Reading, Studying, Meditating, Memorizing, Praying, and Seeking, Repentance, Obedience, Suffering, Celebration, (Rejoicing and Praising), Testifying, and Journaling, we will gradually become a reflection of Christ Jesus Himself.

Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.

It is to be with Him, and we read it all the days of our life so that we may learn to revere the Lord our God and follow carefully all the words of His law and His desires.

Deuteronomy 17:19  And it shall be with Him, and He shall read therein all the days of His life that He may learn to fear the Lord His God to keep all the words of this law and these statutes to do them.
  • Study the verse
  • Meditate on the verse
  • Pray through the verse
  • Repentance
  • Ask: Is the Lord asking me to do something in this verse
  • Begin immediately to be obedient
We want a refreshing?
We do our part and God will do His.

Jesus said, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God! Matthew 4:4

God spoke the word...and it was so....When trials come speak the word of God!

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God! Romans 10:17

Mama's Pearl-Bread of Life Part I

This message is taken from one of my mama's many journals of sermons. She passed away in July of 2015. Pearl Jeannette Holman was an Evangelist for over fifty years. I hope this will inspire you and draw you closer to the Lord Jesus. Her prayer was, Lord help me, so I can help others and Lord Jesus save my family...

Part I - Bread of Life!

We live in an age of quick fix.
We want instant truth along with instant breakfast cereal and instant car washes. When it comes to spiritual things, we want God to drop truth from heaven into our hearts without our having to bother studying.

Perhaps this in part explains the yen for alleged Spiritual revelations, words of wisdom and sudden impressions. Instead of laboriously searching scripture to find an inspired answer, people prefer to look to a Christian guru to pronounce instruction over them. They unwisely look to fallible people for God's plan for their future.

Others fail to grasp scripture meaning due to a lack of dependence on the Holy Spirit's enlightenment.

We are to hide God's word in our hearts...(the Psalmist said in Psalm 119:11) Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.

What is bread?

Wheat that is grown in the ground, crushed and fed to the face.

What do we need?

We need the bread of Life. Christ prayed in Matthew 6, Give us this day our daily bread. He prayed this even before he prayed for forgiveness. The physical need and the spiritual need. Both are vitally essential for life.

We must feed on the bread of life. The word of God, is, the bread of Life!

Only Christ Jesus can satisfy our needs...
Christ is our answer...Look at Jesus...He says, come!

Matthew 6:6 When you pray, enter into thy closet, and when you have shut the door, pray to thy father, which is in secret; and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward you openly. (7) But when your pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do: For they think  that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

When Jesus asked God to sanctify His followers through the truth, He added that God's Word constitutes truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: Thy Word is Truth.
God, it's inspirer, yearns to make and keep His children more holy.

God's word gives directions for the Christian to progress in the sanctified walk.

God's word enters our lives in sanctifying power.

A digested food with in our body somehow becomes nourishment, energy, health, renewal and growth, so the digested manna (the bread of life) of the scripture becomes our ongoing sanctification in the spirit which strengthens the body as well.

Matthew 4:4 Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Scripture both informs us about continuing sanctification and supplies the means for such abundant living.

Reading fine Christian books can explain and reinforce what we read in scripture. But such reading must never substitute the Holy Word of God. We must ask God to manifest Himself to us through His Holy Word.
